Krishna Janmashtami

Krishna Janmashtami is a major Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It is observed with great devotion across India, usually in August or September according to the Hindu lunar calendar. Devotees fast, sing devotional songs, perform dances, and decorate temples and homes with flowers and lights. Many people reenact scenes from Krishna’s childhood, especially the playful “Dahi Handi” tradition where groups form human pyramids to break a pot filled with curd or butter. The festival symbolizes the victory of good over evil and spreads messages of love, wisdom, and devotion.
